MARTIN COWAN — DENTAL SURGEON I qualified from Leeds University in 1971 and took the external degree from the Royal College of Surgeons, London In the same year. My practice has been established here in Rodney Street since 1977. My special Interests are cosmetic dental treatment and implantology. I am a qualified Denplan Excel Practice Inspector. I regularly attend World wide postgraduate courses and conferences, as it is my desire to up date with new techniques and developments.
KAREN BEAVON – DENTAL THERAPIST / HYGIENISTKaren qualified as a Dental Hygienist at Newcastle upon Tyne Dental Hospital in 1994, prior to this she was a qualified Dental Nurse for seven years. Karen's objective here is to help patients maintain good oral health with regular removal of plaque and calculus. Karen has been working with me since January 1995 and has become a valuable member of our team.
LAURAINE WELCH – PRACTICE MANAGERLauraine has been working for me since 1994; prior to this she has gained valuable experience from working with several Consultants In various fields of dentistry since 1986. Lauraine is a caring and conscientious Dental Nurse who takes great pride in her work she also manages the administration of the practice with proficiency and enthusiasm. She has recently gained the National Vocational Qualification in Dental Nursing.
ANGELIKA (PIPPY) WYATT – HEAD DENTAL NURSEPippy has been a dental nurse since 1986. She started working for me in 1997, after qualifying for her . National Dental Nurses Examination of that year. Her unique sense of humour keeps us all amused. She is diligent and efficient and her Nursing skills make her an asset to our practice.
TRICIA DOWLING – HOUSE RECEPTIONIST / DENTAL NURSE Tricia has been working for me since 1997. Tricia is part-time and is here to deal with your telephone enquiries in the mornings. She is an excellent communicator and her pleasant and friendly nature is guaranteed to put patients at their ease. She has recently gained the National Vocational Qualification in Dental Nursing.
JULIE HAMILTON – HOUSE RECEPTIONIST / DENTAL NURSE Julie (the quieter member of the team) has been working for me since 2000. She is also part-time and is here in the afternoons. Julie's bright and cheerful manner makes her a popular member of the team. She has recently gained the National Vocational Qualification in Dental Nursing.
LESLEY HEAGUE – DENTAL NURSE Lesley has been working for me since 2004. She has gained the National Vocational Qualification in Dental Nursing and also the NVQ in Customer Services. In the time she has been with us she has already proved to be a conscientious and valuable member of the team.
We all work well together as a team and strive to lighten the feeling of dread every patient goes through at the thought of having dental treatment. We place emphasis on "sympathetic dentistry with a dose of good old-fashioned sense of humour.
We take great care in the quality in our dentistry and want to make your visit a pleasant experience. Our aim is good dental health for you through preventive dentistry. That means giving you regular dental advice and helping you understand how to care for your teeth yourself to reduce dental treatment.
